This position sits within the NIWA business unit of Earth Sciences New Zealand.

Advance HPC and AI software projects that power cutting edge science

Support and train HPC users

Connect peers in the NZ research sector with technology teams at ESNZ

Key Responsibilities Include

Helping users to build, configure, and run their science applications on the ESNZ HPC

Engaging with HPC users across Aotearoa to understand their requirements

Organising and running training events

Connecting users and technical teams

Full-time position located in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch, New Zealand

About You

Passionate about helping researchers to achieve optimal outcomes

Skilled in scientific computing

Comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams

Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and a keen interest in learning new technologies

Excellent communicator and collaborator

What you'll bring

A qualification in STEM or equivalent professional experience

Demonstrated experience working with researchers and scientific software

Demonstrated experience with HPC or cluster computing environments

Expertise with Linux, shell scripting, and version control

Strong skills in scripting languages like Python or R and compiled languages

$100,000 – $145,000
