We have 2x fixed-term Unit Manager opportunities in the Statistical Delivery - Social & Environment unit within Insights & Statistics.
As Unit Manager, you're responsible for the people leadership of a team of up to 13 analysts.
As part of the Statistical Delivery - Social & Environment leadership team, mutual support, shared problem-solving, and cross-unit cooperation are not just encouraged, but expected.
You'll contribute to a culture where leaders back each other, share expertise, and work together to deliver our branch vision of weaving together the lived experiences of people and place, to create statistics that enhance the wellbeing of people, economy, and the environment for Aotearoa New Zealand.
In addition to the operational management of the unit, you will also ensure that the team has a strong customer focus and service delivery.
You will play a critical role in fostering a team culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
The roles report to the General Manager, Statistical Delivery - Social & Environment.
Unit Manager - Household Financial Statistics - Fixed term for 24 months
You'll lead a team of experts focused on Household Financial Statistics, who collaborate to produce statistics on household income, housing costs, housing affordability, wealth, expenditure and child poverty from the Household Income and Living Survey.
In your role you will work closely with a Statistical Production Lead and Senior Project Manager to enable the delivery of these critical statistics.
You will also play a role in ensuring that Stats NZ is able to meet the requirements under the Child Poverty Reduction Act, working closely with MSD and other stakeholders.
Unit Manager - Labour Market Statistics - Fixed term for 12 months
You'll lead a team of experts focused on Labour Market Statistics, whose work contextualises key labour market findings within broader economic trends, supporting economists, banks, and other data users across the New Zealand and International data systems.
Working closely with your Statistical Production Lead, you'll ensure the successful delivery of the Household Labour Force Survey (HLFS), Quarterly Employment Survey (QES) and Linked Employer-Employee admin data (LEED) data releases.
