Te Turanga / About the Role

Our Te Aroha / Waitoa sites in the Waikato are among Silver Fern Farms' most modern processing facilities, employing up to 440 people at peak season.

We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated Maintenance Fitter / Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team.

In this hands-on role, you'll take ownership of day-to-day mechanical maintenance and repairs that keep our operations running smoothly.

You'll work alongside a strong, stable team that values collaboration and continuous improvement.

Experience in FMCG or a similar production engineering environment would be highly regarded.

Shift Details

Our site operates both day and evening shifts.

Maintenance teams work on a rotating roster covering production hours Monday–Friday, with occasional Saturday overtime :

Day Shift : 5 : 00am – 3 : 30pm

Night Shift : 2 : 30pm – close

Swing Shift : 6 : 30am – 4 : 00pm (includes some weekends)

Ou Pukenga / About You

We're looking for someone who brings :

A relevant trade qualification (Level 4 Mechanical Diagnostics or Fitter / Turner or Fitter / Welder)

Solid knowledge of engineering principles and maintenance procedures—or a passion to learn in this environment

Problem-solving skills and the ability to implement effective solutions quickly

Self-motivation and the ability to work independently and as part of a tight-knit team

A strong commitment to Health & Safety

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a busy environment

A desire to keep learning and upskill—whether that's leadership, dual trading into electrical / refrigeration, or project design
