Babcock is looking for a Marine Fitter to join the Naval Fleet Sustainment team based in Devonport, Auckland.

As a Marine / Mechanical Fitter, you'll be hands-on with propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and small craft maintenance.
From gearboxes to hydraulics, your work ensures vessels operate safely and efficiently.
Based in Devonport, you'll be part of a skilled crew delivering high-quality mechanical solutions in a dynamic, safety-first environment.

$43 per hour (trade certificate essential)
1.5x paid after 40hrs
2x paid after 43hrs

About you
You're a qualified mechanical tradesperson with solid marine or industrial experience.
You know your way around propulsion systems, pumps, hydraulics, and compressors.
You're confident diagnosing faults, making repairs, and working to tight deadlines.
You take pride in your workmanship, communicate clearly, and stay calm under pressure.
You're safety-conscious, IT-capable, and keen to keep learning.
Whether working solo or in a team, you deliver quality results and support others to do the same.
Key Required Skills
Mechanical fault diagnosis and repair
Propulsion system maintenance
Auxiliary equipment servicing (pumps, valves, hydraulics)
Equipment disassembly and rebuild
Performance testing and alignment
IT system use for reporting
Health & safety compliance
Team collaboration and communication
Key Required Qualifications
NZ Trade Certificate Level 4 (Mechanical / Marine Engineering)
Full NZ Driver's License (Class 1 minimum)
Advanced Trade Certificate Level 5 (Desirable)
Seagoing or depot-level marine engineering experience (Desirable)
