Job Description

How you’ll make a difference : Our Auckland Water team are looking for a highly experienced and forward-thinking Principal Water Engineer / Water Design Specialist to lead the design and delivery of complex pressurised water distribution systems (Auckland location is preferred but Wellington-based candidates will be considered).

  • Oversee the preparation of detailed engineering designs, calculations, and hydraulic models, ensuring optimal system performance and efficiency alongside conducting and supervising site visits and assessments, offering expert technical support during construction phases.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, and engineers, to ensure integrated and effective project execution.
  • Review and check complex technical drawings, specifications, and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance and ensure all designs comply with regulatory requirements and promote sustainable and environmentally responsible practices.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Qualifications

The qualities that help you thrive : The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree would be advantageous. With chartered Engineer (CPEng) status or equivalent professional recognition.
  • Extensive experience in designing and managing pressurised water distribution systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership in delivering complex engineering projects.
  • Proficiency in advanced engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, 12D and hydraulic modelling tools.
  • Excellent project management skills with a proven track record of handling multiple high-profile projects.
