The role can be based in our either our Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) or Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) office.

- Our Market Regulation Branch carries out challenging and impactful work to improve competition in regulated markets and make New Zealanders better off.The grocery sector is a $22 billion a year industry - this is significant work of importance to the lives of all New Zealanders. We need people with the capability and passion for this mahi, to continue our positive impact on competition in the sector.Within this role you will :
- gather and critically analyse information, identify key issues, draw logical conclusions and communicate these to our decision makers
- engage with industry participants
- develop a strong understanding of industry trends and factors impacting the market.The indicative salary ranges for the three positions are : Assistant Analyst $78,875 - $ 92,794, Analyst $ 91,432 - $107,567, and Senior Analyst $114,327 - $134,501. Our 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution is additional to this. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects their individual skills, experience, and internal relativities across the organisation.

- Analytical and curious with sound critical thinking skills, and an ability to understand complex issues, systems and markets
- Exceptional skills in communicating complex ideas clearly in writing and orally, and confidence engaging with and presenting to stakeholders
- Experience and / or an interest in understanding markets and emerging trends
- Able to understand economic principles, interpret legislation, and data literate
- An understanding of regulatory practice and systems
- Solutions focused, proactive, innovative and comfortable with ambiguity.
- A university degree in an analytical field (e.g. economics, commerce, law or science) would be an advantage but is not essential.As our organisation flexes and adapts to meet changing priorities and commitments, we are looking for people who are also comfortable with change, able to adapt, and can contribute positively to a one Commission view.
