About our Team | Mō te tīma

Te Ratoka Pūtea, the Financial Services Division, plays a vital role in supporting the University’s financial stability and operational efficiency. Our key functions include Financial Accounting Services, Management Accounting Services, Procurement, and Financial Systems. Within this division, the Supply Chain team manages centralised purchasing and stores activities across several hubs on campus. We are a collaborative, service-focused team committed to delivering high-quality procurement support across the University.

The role | Te mahi

We are seeking a Purchasing Officer to join our dynamic team in Dunedin. This role is responsible for a wide range of purchasing activities, supporting departments across the University.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Finalising purchase requisitions and identifying appropriate payment methods.
  • Liaising with University subject matter experts and suppliers to clarify order requirements.
  • Creating and maintaining purchase orders through to completion and payment readiness.
  • Tracking shipments and communicating delivery schedules to stores and customers.
  • Verifying goods and services have been delivered to expected standards.
  • Preparing reports on purchasing activity, including cost analysis.

    We’re looking for someone who ideally has :

  • Experience in a busy purchasing or procurement role.
  • Exposure to IT, travel, food services, or construction / trades buying would be advantageous.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and general PC skills.
  • A proactive and positive approach to work.
  • A commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to a wide range of queries within policy guidelines.
  • A dedication to working in a culturally safe and respectful manner, with an understanding of Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and Pasifika values.

    This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.

    The salary range for this appointment at level 4 is $63,508 to $68,185. Top of range $73,640.
