Donald Engineering is seeking skilled and experienced fitters / welders to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding metal
components, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.
ABOUT US : We are a busy workshop based between Gore and Invercargill the manufactures and installs dairy shed equipment including rotary platforms, afi sort gates, build and repair all sorts of ag equipment.
Responsibilities :
- Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Cutting, shaping, and fitting metal components.
- Performing various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, ARC) according to project
requirements.
Inspecting and testing welds for quality and integrity.Assembling and fitting fabricated components.Using hand and power tools to perform fitting tasks.Ensuring accurate alignment and fit of components.Performing maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment.Troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical issues.Adhering to all health and safety regulations, including the use of appropriate PPE.Conducting pre-work safety checks.Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.Ensuring all work meets quality standards and specifications.Performing quality checks and inspections.Maintaining accurate records of work completed.Requirements and Skills :
Relevant NZQA unit standards for welding, fabrication, or fitting, or at least two years of relevant experience.Strong understanding of welding and fabrication techniques.Site Safe passport an advantage.Valid driver's licence an advantage.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.Strong mechanical aptitude.Excellent problem-solving skills.Strong attention to detail.Good communication skills.First aid certification is an advantage.Work may involve exposure to noise, dust, and welding fumes.Physical demands include lifting heavy materials and working in various positions.Be willing to undergo random drug tests while employed.Must be a NZ Citizen, NZ Resident or eligible to work in NZ.The successful applicants will need to be based in the Southland area.
This is a full-time permanent role, and the hourly pay rate is between NZ$30.00 and NZ$45.00, depending on experience and qualification. This is a full time position worked between Monday and Friday between 7 am and 5 pm. Work during weekends may be required.
