Job Overview

The main purpose of the role is to consistently demonstrate sound leadership qualities to drive performance excellence at Bluebird and deliver the balanced scorecard (people, service, quality, safety and cost) across 2 production lines to meet AOP targets. Reporting to the Senior Manufacturing Manager, the ideal candidate will be commercially astute, a strategic thinker and possess excellent people management skills, overseeing a diverse and long-established team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Definition and ownership of the Bluebird Continuous Improvement strategy and annual priorities
  • Identification of future structural change needs (assets and people) as a result of ever evolving customer requirements
  • Management and use of manufacturing resources / physical capabilities
  • Deliver financial AOP targets and identify above plan opportunities to deliver financial gains
  • Develop and deliver people strategy to drive positive employee regard, strong front line capability and a KPI / continuous improvement culture in a developing site culture
  • Demonstrate personal leadership on the people agenda through delivery of inspiring employee communication and building strong engagement and involvement mechanisms
  • Deliver product quality standards (i.e. weak link results, complaints) and food safety / hygiene standards (i.e. foreign objects, product contamination, plant design and housekeeping), through operation / maintenance of production equipment, and management of shifty based teams
  • Deliver strong customer service through delivery of service measures in day-to-day operation and the implementation of all product introductions in line with the commercial agenda
  • Ensure a safe working environment for all employees, achieving above industry performance via compliance to internal strategy (ERP) and legislative requirements. Lead the development of the safety culture on site through risk centred activity owned by front line employees
  • Provide strong leadership and coaching for front line managers and front line employees alike via formal and informal processes (to include safety action teams, green teams, workplace organisation);
  • Role model and enforcer of corporate standards, behaviours and values for Bluebird site employee group;
  • Influence the Bluebird agenda, ensuring consistency of approach / best practice development across the broader team.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualified
  • Ability to define and lead the people capability build programme for a manufacturing site
  • Demonstrable strength in engaging and inspiring people to follow and buy into long term vision for the site as it undergoes structural change
  • Confidence and courage to think laterally, justify and implement reliable solutions in a unique manufacturing environment
  • Analytical and logical thinker
  • Clearly demonstrates leadership skills with the ability to develop, motivate, empower and coach a team of managers, staff and frontline employees
  • Influencing skills across operations, peers, and site leadership team
  • Demonstrate a drive for results and a can do Leverage a keen understanding of key business drivers to achieve results
  • Proven ability to relate effectively with a broad range of levels and disciplines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels which foster the trust, co-operation and support of others
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement and modern process control techniques (Lean methodologies such as DMAIC, 5 S’s etc.)
  • Knowledge of H&S principles and practices
  • Knowledge of team design and self-managed team principles
  • Knowledge of good manufacturing practices
  • Knowledge of food safety and HACCP principles and practice
  • Demonstrated experience at managing / supervising a workgroup, with particular emphasis on maintaining a balance between the development of a team-based culture with achieving “bottom line” performance
  • Demonstrated experience in food factory operations;
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating the development of staff
