About the roleThe Department of Conservation (DOC) has introduced a new role : Statutory Advisor.
Reporting to the Statutory and Community Manager, you'll manage the processing of permissions and regulatory applications for the region.
The role focuses on using your expertise to provide advice to resolve complex strategic issues and opportunities, identifying efficiency improvements, and communicating clearly with internal and external stakeholders to support regulatory and statutory work.ResponsibilitiesUsing your expertise to provide advice to resolve complex strategic issues and opportunitiesBringing a continuous improvement mindset to identify areas of efficiencyProviding clear updates to internal and external stakeholdersCollaborating and maintaining positive relationships to ensure a positive and timely regulatory experience for customersQualifications and experienceA tertiary qualification in regulatory, statutory legal or a related field would be advantageousExperience applying policy, statutory processes and legislation to assess risk, complexity and priority within the natural resource policy environmentAnalytical thinker able to gather and interpret information to provide technical advice to applicants and stakeholdersExcellent communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesExperience understanding and applying iwi / hapu perspectives to inform decisionsProblem solving and a continuous-improvement mindsetCollaborative, team-oriented with the ability to build rapport across teamsUnderstanding of the Maori–Crown relationship and its role in DOC's responsibilities and decision makingSalary and termsThe salary range for this position is $80,054 – $101,142, with starting salary based on relevant skills and experience.
