Auckland Council's Finance directorate has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Local Board Financial Advisory to join the Financial Advisory team responsible for driving financial planning and performance to create an Auckland we can all be proud of.
This role is critical for ensuring the Council understands the unique financial opportunities and challenges of local boards, with a key indicator of success being its ability to both understand and articulate these to influence senior leadership decision making and drive change.
The role leads a team of senior finance professionals responsible for providing high quality strategic financial advice to support local board members make key trade-off decisions, and drives long-term financial planning and performance reporting for local activities.
The ability to translate complex financial information into accessible insights is crucial, so local boards can make confident, informed decisions when adopting annual Local Board Agreements and 3-yearly Local Board Plans.
Key Responsibilities :
Representing local board perspectives in senior leadership and regional financial decision making
Leading the financial planning and options analysis for local board priorities
Driving innovation in local board financial governance and advisory processes
Ensuring alignment of investment proposals to Local Board Plans and Council policies
Supporting elected members with capability uplift and decision making
Requirements :
Proven ability to influence executive and political decision-making
Strong knowledge of the New Zealand local government sector
Tertiary qualification in finance, commerce or business management
Experience leading and coaching senior finance professionals
