National Health & Safety Manager – New Zealand

Shirley Parsons is seeking a National Health & Safety Manager to join a leading logistics and transportation organisation operating across New Zealand. This is a pivotal role for an experienced H&S professional who can combine leadership with hands‑on assurance activities, driving continuous improvement and fostering a strong safety culture across a multi‑site business.

Reporting to the Regional H&S Lead – Oceania, you will partner with senior leaders to deliver agreed H&S strategic goals, maintain ISO45001 certification, and successfully integrate H&S requirements into day‑to‑day operations. Acting as the primary point of contact for H&S advice and guidance, you’ll coach managers on “what good looks like” and simplify complex requirements into practical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance the Oceania H&S program. Simplify H&S requirements into practical, user friendly language & activities
• Ongoing maintenance of ISO45001 certification
• Act as custodian of H&S data accuracy and reporting, using trend analysis to drive improvement
• Prepare governance reports and provide insights for continual improvement
• Coach and mentor managers to embed H&S practices into daily operations
• Develop and deliver training and awareness programmes to build capability
• Facilitate worker engagement forums to encourage participation and feedback
• Implement and oversee annual assurance programmes, celebrating successes and identifying improvement opportunities
• Conduct independent verification activities under the 3 lines of defence model
