THE OPPORTUNITY
Are you an experienced and motivated senior shepherd or looking to take that next step into your first senior role, either way – we'd like to hear from you.
You'll be part of a collaborative team, working under the direction of the Farm Manager to ensure the smooth operation and ongoing success of Eweburn Station.
YOUR WORK WILL BE HANDS-ON AND VARIED, INCLUDING
Livestock management and animal health care
Feed budgeting – working closely with the Farm Manager
General farm maintenance and fencing
Maintaining records and ensuring environmental compliance, including the use of Halter and Farm IQ
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a practical, outdoor environment and brings a strong health and safety mindset to all they do.
THE FARM
Eweburn Station is a premier breeding and finishing property, home to 1,400 red breeding hinds, 5,000 terminal ewes, 350 Angus cows, and 300 dairy Bull beef cattle - totaling an impressive 18,600 stock units.
Spanning 3,871 hectares, with 2,543 hectares of effective farmland, Eweburn combines scale with productivity.
Ideally located just minutes from the Te Anau township and nestled near the picturesque shores of Lake Te Anau, the station offers not only outstanding farming opportunities but also exceptional access to a wide range of recreational activities in one of New Zealand's most scenic regions.
ABOUT YOU
You'll bring a strong set of stock handling skills, practical problem-solving abilities, and a team-focused attitude.
This role is well-suited to someone with a few years of shepherding experience who's ready to take on more responsibility and grow within Pamu.
YOU WILL ALSO HAVE
A team of working dogs
Ideally tractor operation experience
A good understanding of animal health and welfare
Clear and open communication skills
A full, current New Zealand driver's licence
You'll be confident working independently but also enjoy contributing to a team where safety, integrity, and continuous learning are valued.
