About the roleThis role is ideal for someone with planning experience who's ready to take the next step and contribute to meaningful work that supports sustainable development and community wellbeing.

You'll work across a range of planning activities—from processing resource consents to providing advice and supporting continuous improvement.

You'll collaborate with other teams, engage with customers, and help deliver planning outcomes that reflect the goals of our City Plan and the requirements of the Resource Management Act.ResponsibilitiesProcessing land use and subdivision consent applicationsReviewing building consents and contributing to PIMs under the Building ActProviding planning advice to internal teams and external customersCoordinating input from specialists like engineering and urban designSupporting the Duty Planner service and responding to public enquiriesIdentifying risks and helping manage Council's responsibilities under the RMAContributing to process improvements and mentoring junior plannersNga Pukenga | What you'll need to succeedTo thrive in this role, you'll bring : A degree in planning, resource management, or a related fieldKnowledge of the Resource Management Act and planning processesStrong communication skills—written and verbalConfidence working with a range of people and perspectivesA collaborative mindset and willingness to support othersA keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solvingTo Tatou Kaunihera | About Tauranga City CouncilTauranga City Council is one of Tauranga's largest employers, and we are always looking to attract great talent to join our driven, passionate, and community-focused team.
