CHEF

Eterna Café will shortly opening on victoria street Hamilton , a vibrant café committed to offering high-quality, fresh, creative cuisine in a warm and friendly setting. We source local ingredients and pride ourselves on customer experience and excellence in food.

Key Responsibilities

Work with café leadership to develop menu items, specials, and recipe improvements.

Ensure food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards are upheld (e.g. HACCP, local health regulations).

Prepare, cook, and present a wide range of hot and cold dishes in accordance with café menu standards and portion guidelines

Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff (commis cooks, kitchen assistants)

Monitor food stock, ordering of ingredients, cost controls, waste minimisation

Collaborate with front-of-house to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction

Maintain kitchen equipment, cleanliness, and compliance with health and safety requirements

Requirements / Qualifications

A relevant Bachelors Degree,— or at least 3-4 years’ relevant experience in a similar role

Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation, presentation, and kitchen operations

Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and local health regulations

Leadership skills, ability to supervise and train junior staff

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, maintain calm under pressure

Good communication skills, ability to work with front-of-house staff

Employment Conditions & Benefits

Full-time (for minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed)

Competitive salary (NZ$ 28 / hour – NZ$ 35 / hour)
