Overview

Job Title : Principal Performance Analyst and Senior Performance Analyst

Role type : Permanent, full-time

Location : Wellington – on site

Salary

Principal role (GSR C) : $119,376 to $128,861 depending on skills and experience

Senior role (GSR D) : $100,934 to $114,591 depending on skills and experience

About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga

Fisheries New Zealand (FNZ) works to ensure that fisheries resources are managed to provide the greatest overall benefit to New Zealanders. Our focus is the sustainability of New Zealand\'s wild fish stocks, aquaculture, and the wider aquatic environment, now and for future generations.

We have an exciting opportunity for two analysts (1x Principal and 1x Senior) to join our Governance and Performance team.

The Governance and Performance Team works to enable FNZ to continuously improve its performance. The team supports FNZ\'s governance and planning processes, undertakes business analysis, provides insights and advice, and leads business improvement projects.

As an analyst in the Governance and Performance Team, you will have a diverse and interesting work programme with involvement in work programming, budgeting and cost recovery processes, statutory reporting and risk management. You will also gather data and lead projects to improve aspects of FNZ\'s performance.

You will engage regularly with the Fisheries New Zealand Leadership Team and a wide range of staff from across the Ministry for Primary Industries.

To be successful in the role, you will need strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent writing skills, and the ability to form and maintain relationships with a wide range of people.

About You - Mōu

Bring your relevant tertiary qualification, analytical skills, and significant relevant work experience along with your attention to detail and your enjoyment of working in a fast moving, busy environment where no two days are the same. You do not need to have a fisheries background. You may come from the private or public sector.

You will have;

  • Experience building productive relationships with stakeholders and senior leaders
  • Refined interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to collate and analyse detailed business and financial information, develop insights, and recommendations.
  • Significant experience preparing reports and other written communication for senior leaders
  • Ability to provide advice that supports robust decision-making processes
  • Skilled in the use of data visualisation techniques
  • Experience in business planning, analysis and performance monitoring

Additional skills required for the Principal role include;

  • Significant experience in numerical analysis and development of written material for senior leaders
  • Supporting the team manager to coach and mentor team members
  • Ability to provide thought leadership and insights

    About the Team - Mō tō mātou Rōpū

    These roles sit within the Strategy and Governance Directorate, and report to the Manager Governance and Performance. A small, energetic and hard-working team, based on one floor, and surrounded by other smart, galvanised kaimahi working across various teams in Fisheries New Zealand and the broader MPI.
