As a Fingerprint Technical Support Officer, you will support Fingerprint Experts in their work through the provision of basic lab services and admin services.
You will report to the Manager of the Fingerprint Office and will be a member of the National Fingerprint Service Centre.
We are looking for someone who can apply themselves to clerical taskings, has some basic lab skills and an understanding and passion for forensics.
You will need to be able to multi-task, work well under pressure and be able to complete all work with accuracy.
Be able to work in an environment that contains traumatic content.
Key Accountabilities :
Receiving exhibits, detailing the items and confirming accuracy and / or making necessary corrections.
You will be required to document the receipt and release of exhibits.
This is 'end to end exhibit management' and maintaining the exhibit chain of custody.
Making working solutions of chemicals.
Maintaining our chemical register in Chemwatch database.
Ensuring stocks in the lab are up to date, testing and recording the making of working solutions and their efficacy.
You will be maintaining accurate fingerprint case file records through FIMS (Fingerprint Information Management System), liaising with investigators, SOCO and Case management units to support investigations.
Sending out Fingerprint Identification memos and assisting with court file disclosure packages.
General administrative and front of office reception duties, for example, phone and walk in inquiries, dealing with incoming mail, filing and managing offsite archiving.

The successful applicant must reside in the Hamilton Area
A full driver's license is also essential as you may have to drive our work vehicles from time to time.
Any Laboratory-based experience would be beneficial
To assist with shortlisting a practical test will need completing onsite

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $69,337 and $72,430 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
