Hohepa is a unique therapeutic community inspired by the principles of Rudolf Steiner, supporting children and adults with intellectual disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives.
The organisation values diversity, autonomy, and inclusive teaching practices that reflect the individual needs of each akonga (learner).
This opportunity is for a registered classroom teacher to join Hohepa's special school.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with learners who have intellectual disabilities and a strong understanding of Te Ao Maori.
The role involves working in small class settings, supported by experienced Teacher Aides and the wider Hohepa community.
Teachers are encouraged to bring their own style to the classroom while aligning with Hohepa's values and philosophies.
Applicants should be confident in engaging with diverse learners and responsive to their cultural, whanau, and individual needs.
A belief in the potential of every learner is essential, as is the ability to manage challenging behaviours with maturity and resilience.
While the role can be demanding, it offers the reward of making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
