Toi Foundation is looking for an experienced Finance and Compliance Manager to lead our finance function and support our wider impact across Taranaki. This is a key leadership role responsible for strong financial stewardship, reliable reporting, and effective governance. You will guide a capable team, strengthen our systems, and ensure we are well positioned to deliver on our strategic goals.

What you will be doing :

  • Leading and mentoring the Financial Accountant, creating clarity, confidence and a strong sense of purpose.
  • Providing high-quality financial advice, reporting and insights to the CFO, Executive Leadership Team and Board.
  • Managing budgets, financial planning cycles and statutory reporting with accuracy and care.
  • Overseeing finance systems and processes, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Contributing to strategy and policy development, and helping translate that direction into meaningful day to day mahi.
  • Building trusted relationships with internal teams, external partners and Māori groups across the region.
  • Ensuring compliance, governance and risk frameworks are strong, understood and consistently applied.
  • Promoting a safe and healthy workplace, supporting the hauora of the Finance Team and wider organisation.

This is a full-time role, with flexibility and the option to work from home part of the week.

The ideal Finance and Compliance Manager :

  • Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ) or equivalent, with a tertiary qualification in finance, accounting or business.
  • Significant leadership experience, with a proven ability to manage and develop staff and foster a positive, high performing team culture.
  • Strong technical capability across financial management, systems and reporting, with excellent attention to detail and follow through.
  • Deep experience in compliance across financial, legislative, health and safety and contractual areas.
  • Confident advising senior leaders, engaging with Boards and preparing clear, detailed reports suitable for governance level review.
  • Skilled in policy development, system improvement and process efficiency.
  • Experience preparing business cases and supporting large funding or grant applications.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement capability, including working effectively with tangata whenua, community groups and a wide range of partners.
  • Strategic thinker with sound judgement and the ability to balance big picture outcomes with day to day detail.
  • Openness to learning and incorporating te reo Māori and tikanga into everyday work.
