About the Role

This role has three key functions

• Provides independent advice on health insights to the Chief Executive and Board to enable Health NZ to commission and deliver sustainable, timely access to quality health care.
• Works alongside performance, improvement, clinical leaders and data leads and their teams, to measure and analyse health system performance, productivity and quality, translate complex data into actionable insights for strategic planning, decision-making and delivery, and build relationships with stakeholders to improve health outcomes.
• Ensures health insights that are generated align with the organisation's priorities and change mechanisms within the organisation and across the broader health system, including quality improvement, service design, performance management, commissioning, quality assurance and regulation, to enable appropriate action and system change in response to insights.

About you

You bring 10+ years' experience at a senior level, leading teams of strategic analytics and insights practitioners to deliver meaningful, high-impact outcomes. You have a deep understanding of New Zealand's health sector data, data environments, funding models, and associated processes.

You have proven experience analysing provider performance data and benchmarking against regional, national, and international comparators to drive continuous improvement. You are a strong critical thinker and problem solver, able to operate confidently in complex, ambiguous, or rapidly changing environments.

You build trusted relationships with ease and can influence effectively at all levels, using your insight and credibility to support informed decision-making and system improvement.
