The Role

We’re on the lookout for a talented and driven Sous Chef ready to step up in a busy, high-energy kitchen. This role is about more than just cooking - it’s about leading by example, setting high standards, and helping shape the future of our menus.

Responsibilities

  • Completing ordering and stocktaking to plan and manage food costs
  • Help change the menu and evolve the menu over time
  • Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • Discussing food preparation issues with managers, kitchen and waiting staff
  • Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
  • Preparing and cooking food to a consistently high standard
  • Understanding the food control plan and understanding the cleaning standards and processes within the kitchen
  • Ensure all food is prepped and portion controlled prior to service to ensure no food prep is required to be completed during service
  • Ensuring clear communication between the kitchen, front of house and head office
  • Skills / Experience

    We are looking for an energetic, flexible and hard working candidate. The ideal candidate will be someone with :

  • A passion for food and providing experiences
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong leadership and culinary skills
  • Energy and enthusiasm to share with your team
  • Proven experience in a fast paced high end kitchen environment
  • A relevant qualification at Level 4 or above of the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF); or at least 2 years of relevant experience
