What This Role Is About

The Women\'s Day Programme Support Worker (Kaimahi) provides trauma-informed, person-centered support to women accessing our drop-in programme. This programme serves women who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, addiction, poverty, and systemic marginalisation.

The kaimahi helps create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment where women can access basic needs, build trusting relationships, and engage in supportive services that foster stability, empowerment, and community connection. This role is an opportunity to be part of a deeply meaningful program that prioritises dignity, community, and healing. You\'ll join a team committed to social justice and to walking alongside women as they reclaim stability, safety, and hope.

• Welcome and engage participants with warmth, respect, and non-judgment
• Provide emotional support, crisis de-escalation, and referrals to appropriate internal and external services.
• Support the day-to-day operations of the drop-in, including serving meals, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring safety
• Assist in planning and facilitating daily activities or workshops focused on wellness, harm reduction, life skills, and peer connection
• Coordinate guest speakers, workshops, and educational opportunities on topics relevant to participants, such as mental health, harm reduction, te ao Māori, legal rights, housing access, and employment readiness

This is a permanent role, Monday-Friday, 20-30 hours per week to be worked between the hours of 8 : 30am-4 : 30pm.
