We collect, analyse and assess intelligence which enables us to provide advice and guidance to protect New Zealand from threats such as foreign interference, espionage and terrorism.We are looking for a Vetting Analyst to join our tight-knit, high performing team.

  • About the role
  • NZSIS has a statutory mandate to conduct security vetting in New Zealand on behalf of all government agencies.
  • As a Vetting Analyst, you'll play a critical role in contributing to the security of New Zealand.

    Your day-to-day will involve conducting background investigations and assessing suitability for nominated government employees and contractors so they may hold a national security clearance.This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of national security in a fast-paced, challenging role that will stretch your analytical thinking.

  • Who we're looking for
  • This role will draw on your strong interpersonal skills and ability to gather and analyse information from multiple sources to make evidence backed assessments.
  • You will also need to be discreet and demonstrate the ability to make assessments in a non-judgemental manner.You will ideally have :

  • Demonstrated experience in investigative or information gathering and analysis work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to elicit information and discuss sensitive subjects in a discreet non-judgemental manner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication style.
  • An ability to make well informed and fair assessments.
  • A high level of integrity and trustworthiness and a reputation for attention to detail.
  • Excellent self-management skills with the ability to be flexible and prioritise in the face of a demanding workload.
  • The appointing range for this role is $73,684 - $78,596.
  • Before you apply
  • Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.You must :
  • Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 yearsORHold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
