Overview

NZ Retail Equipment (NZRE) partners with leading retailers across New Zealand and the Pacific, delivering trusted solutions in general retail, grocery, DIY and logistics. From its exclusive partnership with Wanzl, a global leader in retail equipment, NZRE has built a reputation for reliability, innovation, and long-term customer partnerships. NZRE is seeking an accomplished Head of Sales to lead its sales and product management function, drive growth across key markets, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of NZRE’s business.

The Opportunity

  • Take ownership of the sales strategy and deliver growth across New Zealand’s most recognisable retailers – Woolworths, Foodstuffs, Bunnings, Mitre10, The Warehouse, and more.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of Key Account Managers, Product Manager and Commercial Analyst.
  • Drive sales execution, trade marketing and product innovation.
  • Partner closely with the Managing Director and Leadership Team to ensure long-term success.
  • Represent NZRE at industry events and with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships while identifying and securing new opportunities.
  • Design and execute growth strategies by customer, channel and product portfolio.
  • Embed effective, customer-centric sales methodologies and a high-performance sales culture.
  • Develop trade marketing campaigns and introduce new products to market.
  • Deliver profitable growth through both existing and new product portfolios.
  • Negotiate and secure long-term nationwide agreements.
  • Create tailored product-based solution proposals for customers and procurement teams.
  • Prepare and utilise data for customer and product performance reporting, producing insights that inform business decisions.
  • Represent NZRE at trade shows, industry events and in market as required.
  • Search out product and services growth opportunities, negotiate with suppliers and onboard those NZRE wants to partner with.
  • About You

  • 10+ years’ proven sales leadership experience, with a strong background in FMCG and / or retail markets (supplier side).
  • Experienced at leading and developing a small, determined and capable sales team.
  • Strong B2B experience in a fast-paced and agile environment.
  • An ability to search out and implement growth opportunities.
  • Strong track record in negotiating and managing nationwide commercial agreements.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to think like a business owner, and come up with innovative solutions.
  • Commercially astute, confident with numbers, and effective at closing profitable deals.
  • Skilled in developing proposals for complex product-based solutions.
  • Analytical, with strong BI / Excel / Presentation capability to drive performance insights.
  • A balance of strategic leadership and hands-on customer engagement.
  • A willingness to roll your sleeves up at the coalface when the need arises.
  • Understand and enjoy building strong customer relationships in the field.
