Overview
The ACT Caucus Support Centre is looking for an experienced communications professional to join its Wellington-based team as a Senior Press Secretary or Press Secretary (depending on experience).
This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of Parliament, helping to craft and deliver the ACT Parliamentary Party's message across all media platforms.
About the Role
You'll be responsible for :
Leading media engagement and managing relationships with media
Writing press releases, speeches, articles, and digital content
Supporting the ACT Leader and MPs with media appearances and messaging
Advising on communications strategy and public positioning
Coordinating media schedules and content planning
You'll work closely with the Chief of Staff and caucus to ensure ACT's policies and priorities are communicated clearly, consistently, and effectively.
About You
We're looking for someone who is :
Experienced : with a background in public relations, journalism, or communications
Strategic : able to shape narratives and respond quickly to media developments
Politically savvy : understands the parliamentary environment and media landscape
A strong writer : able to produce clear, compelling content under pressure
A relationship builder : confident working with journalists, MPs, and stakeholders
A tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, or a related field is desirable.

Dependent on the skillset of the preferred applicant we're open to appointing to a Press Secretary or Senior Press Secretary role.
The salary for this role will be based on skills and experience.
All employees who work for MPs are employed on an "events-based" agreement, with your employment linked to your MP.
The role is based in Wellington, in the Parliamentary precinct, for 40 hrs per week.
