Job Overview

The Kauri Museum is a recognised cultural anchor for the Kaipara and a much-loved visitor destination for people across Aotearoa and the world. We are entering a new phase of renewal, community engagement, and exhibition development, and we are looking for a capable General Manager – Operations to guide our work with confidence and care.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Museum’s daily operations, visitor experience, staffing, facilities, compliance, and budgeting.
• Lead a team of 25 staff (10.85 FTE) and a dedicated volunteer community.
• Work closely with the Board to strengthen systems and processes, support high‑quality exhibitions and events, and help deliver the Museum’s annual plan.
• Represent the stories of this place and support strong visitor and tourism outcomes.

Qualifications

Part‑time Details

This part‑time role is 3‑4 days per week. The salary is $105,000 FTE, pro‑rated to $63,000–$84,000 depending on hours. Some weekend work may be required during busy periods. Hours may flex seasonally, with higher demand over the summer visitor period.
