KiwiRail is in a phase of significant transformation to modernise and grow our rail and Interislander ferry services in Aotearoa. Our People and Culture team plays a key part in this change, ensuring our people are engaged, empowered, skilled and supported to perform. This role has been established to help provide important data analytics and insights to understand, build and support our future workforce.

We’re seeking a Senior People Data Analyst to play a key role in delivering the data insights, reporting, and analytics that underpin these critical initiatives. This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity, ideal for a senior-level analyst who thrives on turning complex data into actionable insights that inform workforce planning and strategic decision‑making.

What you’ll do | Ngā kawenga matua

• Lead critical people data initiatives that strengthen the organisation’s data foundations, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and trust in insights.
• Analyse workforce trends and identify key levers influencing the organisation’s labour cost model, providing actionable insights to improve business and workforce outcomes.
• Ensure timely, accurate, and high‑quality data reporting and analysis for senior leaders, managers, and HR partners.
• Deliver regular and ad‑hoc reporting on key workforce metrics, including recruitment, remuneration, performance, and workforce demographics, where required.
• Continuously improve data quality, reporting processes, and analytical tools to enhance insight generation and decision‑making capability.
• Present findings through clear, engaging visualisations and narratives tailored to diverse stakeholder audiences, and provide guidance and direction on insights where required.
