Job description

Overview

SYOS is a fast-growing global robotics and aerospace company driving the development of cutting-edge uncrewed vehicles (drones) across air, land, and sea for dual-use applications. We are committed to pushing technological boundaries and delivering exceptional products that consistently exceed customer expectations.

About the Role

SYOS is seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Chief Financial Officer to join their talented team. Reporting to the CEO and partnering closely with the executive team and Board, this is a pivotal leadership role that will suit a proven financial strategist and hands-on operator. You’ll bring commercial clarity, global financial expertise, and operational rigour to a fast-moving and complex business at the forefront of the autonomous vehicle revolution. As well as leading and growing a global finance team (currently NZ and UK), you will develop the systems and controls needed to support international scale, and advise on capital strategy, risk, pricing, and funding models to support their ambitious goals.

What you’ll do

  • Develop and execute a robust global financial strategy across NZ, UK, and emerging markets.
  • Provide clear, board-ready insights and recommendations to inform decision making.
  • Lead financial operations : reporting, forecasting, budgeting, treasury, and investor relations.
  • Drive ERP implementation and scalable financial systems to support manufacturing and international growth.
  • Assess and advise on M&A opportunities, commercial structures, and large-scale contract delivery.
  • Build and lead a high-performing global finance team, while staying close to the numbers and operations.

Who you are

  • A commercially sharp CFO with experience in high-growth, global high-tech manufacturing companies.
  • Known for clear and constructive leadership and the ability to build financial maturity within scaling businesses.
  • Proven experience with liquidity and cashflow management, including equity planning.
  • Experienced with global expansion and operations, including setting up operations in new markets.
  • Not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get into operational detail when needed, but strategic and polished enough to influence a sophisticated board and investor group.
  • Note, this position is ideally based in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand.
