About the Role

The primary purpose of this role is to design, build, and maintain modern data engineering solutions that ensure reliable, scalable, and high‑quality data delivery. This includes developing robust data pipelines, creating and optimising data models, and managing orchestration workflows across the analytics ecosystem.

The role works extensively with tools such as dbt, Snowflake, Airflow, Meltano, and GitHub to support efficient data processing, version control, and automated workflows.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will need the following essential skills, experience, and attributes :

Essential experience & capabilities

• A relevant tertiary qualification or significant equivalent professional experience.
• Practical experience applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining business intelligence and data warehouse solutions.
• End‑to‑end experience across the full BI lifecycle, including scoping, requirements gathering, design, development, testing, go‑live, and ongoing support.
• Strong relationship‑building skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders through consultation and partnership.
• Hands‑on experience with Snowflake and dbt.
• Ability to perform root‑cause analysis on data and processes to answer technical and business questions.

Desired experience

• Knowledge of the New Zealand health system.
• Experience with dbt, Airflow, Meltano, Qlik Cloud, or Python.
• Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines and version control tools such as GitLab.
