We're looking for a dedicated

Kaiako

to join our whanau at

Raroera Te Puawai

where learning is grounded in whakapapa, whanaungatanga and aroha.

This is a

permanent full-time

(40 hours per week) position based in

Hamilton.

As one of our valued Kaiako, you'll help create a safe, inclusive, and culturally rich space where every child feels seen, heard, and supported.

You'll lead and support learning aligned with Te Whariki, weaving in Maori and meaningful experiences that reflect our Kaupapa.

You will document tamariki progress, build strong relationships with whanau, and work alongside a passionate team to create positive outcomes for our learners.

This role would suit someone who has a genuine love for working with tamariki, is confident in te reo Maori, thrives in a supportive kaupapa-driven environment where whanau values and cultural connection are at the heart of everything we do.

Bachelor of Teaching (ECE or Primary) or a Level 7 Diploma in Teaching (ECE)

A current Practising Certificate issued by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand

Full New Zealand Class 1 Drivers' License

Demonstrated experience working with and caring for tamarikiAt least 3 years' teaching experience in a full immersion or te reo Maori environment

Confident and fluent in both spoken and written te reo Maori

A strong understanding of Maori culture, values, and tikanga

Comfortable with some physical activity, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods

This role is classified as a Core Worker and requires passing a safety check under the Children's Act

As a kaupapa Maori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Ahuatanga Maori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
