About the Role

We are looking for a Project Engineer with great energy & drive to join the McConnell Dowell Whanau at our Auckland Airport – Domestic Jet Terminal Airfield Works Project.

The Project Engineer is responsible for ensuring the effective coordination and control of engineering works through the activities of technical, engineering, inspection, scheduling, planning, survey, procurement and quality control.

  • Co-ordinate with Managers and Superintendents on Engineering, temporary works, scheduling and status of the project.
  • Control fabrication and field construction engineering and schedules for overall programs.
  • Monitor and co-ordinate the preparation maintenance and change of construction schedules, methods, manning charts, and equipment requirements. Advise on actions to be taken to prevent or improve undesirable trends in progress.
  • Interpret engineering documents and drawings for field personnel.
  • Provide general technical assistance to supervisory personnel.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in construction / civil engineering.
  • A minimum of five years civil engineering experience in the construction industry.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering to $ targets, timeframes, planning and logistics management.
  • Specialist experience in project engineering and a working knowledge of project management.
  • Competent in planning and organising work schedules and a demonstrated ability to deliver to timelines.
  • Sound working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same.
  • Strong and clear communication skills with proven ability to engage others.
