Part time, Fixed term, FTTE up to : 0.8, Start Date : 26 / 01 / 2026, End Date : 27 / 01 / 2027 (Covering FWA)

Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Certificated teacher

We are looking for a dynamic teacher who loves to bring out the best in neurodiverse young people / akonga and is energised by giving rangitahi opportunities for success.

Please note this is part-time, fixed term position.

The successful applicant will have strengths and experience in :

Building relationships that are focused on learning with young people.

Delivering an adapted curriculum that is responsive to akonga needs.

Relating with all staff as well as external stakeholders in a collaborative way to support akonga.

Co-constructing and monitoring individual educational programmes that focus on readiness to learn, literacy, numeracy, and social skills.

The intrinsic rewards that come with building good relationships with diverse learners.

A supportive team of residential and day school staff who collaborate effectively to promote learning.

Te Otu Matua HRC is a time-limited intervention for rangatahi who experience neurodiverse challenges such as ASD, intellectual impairments, specific learning disabilities, ADHD, and trauma, as well as a range of similar presentations that may not have been diagnosed.

To experience success in education, these young people need to feel safe, make connections, and learn ways to manage their emotions.

We are intentional in creating a therapeutic environment that supports akonga to develop the emotional, social, and regulation skills essential to being ready to learn and to take these skills with them when they leave.

We work in partnership with akonga whanau, the enrolling school, and referrer.
