This role is pivotal in ensuring high-quality development outcomes aligned with Council's strategic objectives, statutory requirements, and community expectations.About the roleYou will help drive the development engineering process here at Selwyn District Council.

A high level of technical and leadership expertise is required for the role, along side this, you will be responsible forTechnical Leadership & Mentorship : Provide expert guidance on complex engineering challenges across all technical workstreamsQuality Assurance & Standards : Review and approve engineering designs, reports, and deliverables to ensure they meet high standards of accuracy, compliance, and innovationDevelopment Engineering & Planning : Provide expert advice on resource consent and engineering acceptance applicationsPolicy & Strategic Advice : Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, Bylaws and District Plan reviewsContinuous Improvement & Innovation : Lead quality improvements within the Development Engineering functionCollaboration : Work closely with the Engineering & Stakeholder Manager and other leaders across the organisation to ensure alignment of technical advice and processesProject Involvement : Lead or contribute to cross-functional project teams as a subject matter expertAbout youBeing an excellent communicator with extensive Engineering experience, you are someone who can relate well to a wide range of people, able to use your initiative and work independently.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to make rational judgements and provide workable solutions to a range of problems.To be successful in this role, you will have : Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or related degreeAt least 10 years extensive experience working in development engineering and / or asset management with a focus on design / construction standards and specificationsDemonstratable Engineering Problem Solving Skills Across Multiple Engineering DisciplinesAbility and commitment to coach and influence a team without being a direct line managerAbility to communicate clearly and appropriately for a range of audiences and adapt style accordingly.What we can offerFor several years Selwyn has been experiencing rapid and sustained economic and population growth.
