Product Design Manager, Admin Experiences

Join to apply for the Product Design Manager, Admin Experiences role at Atlassian

Overview

Atlassians can choose where they work—whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, reflecting a distributed‑first company.

This is a remote position. To help our teams work together, this role requires you to be located in Australia or New Zealand.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire : Manage, coach, and develop a high‑performing team of product and content designers, helping them grow their craft and impact.
  • Set strategy : Define and drive the Admin Experience design strategy, ensuring alignment with Atlassian’s platform vision and business goals.
  • Cross‑functional partnership : Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineering Leads, and other cross‑functional partners to shape roadmaps, define priorities, and deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
  • Craft excellence : Establish and maintain a high‑quality bar for design work, championing customer‑centric design thinking and practices.
  • Team operations : Oversee team rhythms, reporting, and rituals (e.g., critiques, design reviews, onboarding), supported by Design Ops.
  • Recruitment & onboarding : Lead hiring and onboarding for new designers, ensuring a smooth and inclusive experience.
  • Champion collaboration : Model and foster healthy triad (Design, Product, Engineering) partnerships, and drive cross‑team alignment.
  • Drive impact : Foster a culture of continuous improvement, enabling the team to deliver exceptional results for the Admin Experience.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience managing design teams, with a proven track record of developing talent and delivering high‑craft, high‑impact work.
  • Experience leading platform or complex conceptual model work, ideally in SaaS or enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to set vision and strategy, and break it down into actionable, deliverable pieces.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence at all levels—including senior leadership.
  • Hands‑on experience as a product designer; you know what it takes to ship great design.
  • Deeply customer‑focused, with a passion for building experiences that scale and delight.
  • Experience working with distributed teams and collaborating across time zones.
  • A self‑starter with a growth mindset, curiosity, and a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Based in Australia or New Zealand, with the ability to work closely with the local team.
  • Why Join Us?

  • Shape the future of Atlassian’s admin platform and impact millions of users.
  • Join a high‑performing, inclusive, and supportive design team.
  • Work on complex, high‑visibility problems at scale.
  • Enjoy Atlassian’s flexible work environment, generous benefits, and commitment to learning and growth.

Atlassian offers a wide range of perks and benefits designed to support you, your family and to help you engage with your local community. Our offerings include health and wellbeing resources, paid volunteer days, and so much more. To learn more, visit go.atlassian.com / perksandbenefits.
