Registered Nurse - Long Waitlist And Outsourcing

About the role

The role is responsible for coordinating the outsourcing process between surgical services and private providers in the Southern District. The role identifies patients who are suitable to be outsourced and then manages their journey through the health system to ensure a successful outcome. A key aspect of their role is to maximise, within budget, the number of patients that can be outsourced. A key measure of success is the reduction in Southern's number of long waiting surgical patients.

Responsibilities of this role include the following :

• Responsible for coordinating the outsourcing process for Southern between surgical services and outsourcing providers within the district
• Identify patients who are suitable to be outsourced and then manages their journey through the health system to ensure a successful outcome
• Work alongside the two orthopaedic outsourcing registered nurses, service managers, clinicians, booking administrators and private provider team
• To maximise outsourcing capacity with providers across the district - both planned and short notice dropped lists
• Review surgical waitlists to identify suitable patients
• Monitor our outsourcing volumes and KPI measures with providers jointly with the Planned Care Manager
• Improve (educate) process for patient flow to maximise benefit to our patients e.g. ensure appropriate patient records are loading in timely manner and correctly for providers to access
• Identify additions / improvements to the outsourcing process to improve flow
• Improve (educate) administration processes - booking, transfer of records, timeliness of actions post op

About you

You will bring excellent assessment skills along with a passion and focus for working with families / whanau to provide a high standard of care. You will be clinically focused and able to exercise independent nursing judgement and have strong problem-solving skills together with the ability to communicate effectively.

You will also have the following :

• Current registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and a current APC, with the right to work in New Zealand
• Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals
• Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills
• The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused
• Excellence in communication and customer service skills

Salary range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the expired NZNO CEA and the salary will be in accordance with the Pay Scale, between $81,683 and $106,739 p.a dependent on relevant experience.
