As part of our regional infrastructure team, you'll help ensure our assets support the growth and resilience of our communities.
As Field Asset Engineer you'll be the key link between our asset management plans and field operations.
You'll manage a section of track, ensuring it meets code requirements and safety standards.
Working closely with production teams and engineers, you'll inspect infrastructure, analyse asset data, plan maintenance, and prepare work orders.
Your decisions will help keep our tracks safe and operational, every day.

Based in Palmerston North
The role includes regular site travel and overnight stays.
We're looking for someone with strong planning and technical skills who thrives in a collaborative, safety-first environment.
Qualifications
A tertiary qualification in engineering (BEng, NZCE or equivalent)
Experience in civil engineering or infrastructure project planning
Knowledge of asset management practices and work order planning
An eye for detail and confidence with data analysis tools (e.g., Maximo, TSA, TQI)
A proactive approach to safety and risk management
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to engage in technical discussions and give sound advice
Desirable
Experience implementing asset management improvements
Familiarity with rail codes, standards, and compliance systems
