Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Assistant Manager (2IC) to help oversee the day-to-day operations of our business. The Assistant Manager plays a key role in ensuring smooth business performance, maintaining excellent customer service, supporting staff, and contributing to the continued growth of the company.

Work location :            Tauranga, Bay of Plenty

Hours :                          30 hours per week or more as per the business requirements

Payrate :                        $26 to $28 per hour based on the negotiations

Number of positions : 2x

The Assistant Manager’s responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to :

  • Assist in the smooth daily operation of the business and ensure all activities run efficiently.
  • Manage and maintain accurate business and operational records in line with company and legal requirements.
  • Support with organizing and coordinating special events, promotions, and marketing campaigns to attract and retain customers.
  • Assist with stock control, inventory management, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with suppliers and service providers.
  • Support the Manager in financial and administrative duties, including budgeting and cost control.
  • Handle cash and banking procedures in accordance with company policies.
  • Enforce company rules, policies, and health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in preparing staff rosters, allocating duties, and monitoring staff performance.
  • Provide leadership, training, and motivation to team members to ensure service excellence.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, organization, and equipment maintenance across all areas of operation.
  • Assist with council documentation, compliance requirements, and obtaining necessary certifications and approvals.
  • Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are consistently met.
  • Resolve customer issues or complaints promptly and professionally to ensure satisfaction.
  • Oversee smooth customer service delivery and efficient workflow during peak hours.
  • Confidently perform all Manager-level duties during assigned shifts.
  • Monitor sales performance and assist with identifying opportunities to improve business profitability.
  • Contribute ideas for operational improvements and team development.
  • You will be able to perform the tasks of Restaurant Manager during his absence.

Requirements :

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience or an NZQF Level 2 qualification.
  • Experience in customer service or a food and beverage outlet is an advantage.
  • Able to work weekends, public holidays, and split shifts when required.
  • Hold knowledge of managing the workload and staff.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to work independently.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and a proactive approach to teamwork and problem-solving.
  • Ability to multitask and manage operations efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
