About The Role

This is an opportunity to work across the full scope of midwifery practice in a team that values integrity, kindness, and excellence.

Based at Whakatane Hospital, you will contribute to antenatal, birthing, and postnatal care alongside colleagues who genuinely care for whanau and each other.

Every shift offers a chance to make an impact – offering continuity of care and professional challenge, within a supportive and professionally rewarding environment.

We are offering up to 0.8 FTE, please state in your cover letter how many hours you wish to be considered for.

About the Team / Service / Location

Ko Matariki Maternity Unit champions a women-centred care model supported by an experienced, multidisciplinary team including midwives, nurses, HCAs, obstetric registrars, and SMOs.

Located in Whakatane, a community-minded coastal town with deep cultural roots, our unit is grounded in strong teamwork, cultural safety, and professional development.

About You

You are a confident and caring Registered Midwife who brings compassion, cultural responsiveness, and clarity to your practice.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, places mama and whanau at the centre of care, and welcomes the ongoing learning that comes with working in a diverse, rural setting.

What You Will Bring

New Zealand Midwifery Council registration and a current Annual Practicing Certificate

A commitment of providing safe, respectful, and culturally responsive care
