This is a 12 month fixed-term position established to support a special project. The role is based in Canterbury and will involve travel across the South Island as part of its responsibilities.

The role will commence from Monday 19th January 2026.

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced NZ registered teacher who demonstrates strong pedagogical skills and has proven experience in pastoral care / counselling / social work. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting students and their families in exploring and engaging with the various educational pathways available to them.

The successful applicant will be committed to upholding the Special Character of the Christian Education Network.

Role responsibilities

• Engage with identified families and collaborate with support agencies to assess and understand educational needs.
• Maintain regular contact through home or school visits, conducted in person and / or via video calls.
• Conduct educational assessments to identify learning gaps and strengths.
• Carry out behavioural assessments as needed.
• Design and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
• Build strong relationships with education navigators, parents, students, mentors, counsellors, and other support personnel.
• Coordinate cross-agency support to ensure holistic care and educational engagement.
• Support older students in transitioning to alternative educational providers or pathways, as appropriate.
• Provide ongoing mentoring and advisory services to students and families.
• High level of personal integrity, honesty and humility.
• A willingness to support, uphold, and be positively involved in the special character of the Christian Education Network.
• Strong networker and facilitator.
• Full NZ Teacher Registration and the right to work in New Zealand.
• A current driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
