The National University of Singapore (NUS) is the national research university of Singapore, founded in 1905 as the Straits Settlements and the Federated Malay States Government Medical School. NUS is the oldest higher education institution in Singapore.

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of NUS is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Engineer to join our Microelectronics Research Facilities, also known as E6NanoFab hosted at the College of Design and Engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation, process development, and maintenance of deposition and annealing tools, ensuring high equipment uptime and supporting researchers and industrial users in their device fabrication projects.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Ownership & Maintenance

Serve as tool owner for film deposition systems (e.g., PVD, ALD, CVD, sputtering, evaporation) and annealing furnaces / RTP systems.

  • Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting to ensure tool reliability and high uptime.
  • Work with vendors and service providers for equipment upgrades, repairs, and spare parts management.
  • Process Development & Support
  • Develop, optimize, and qualify thin film deposition and annealing processes to meet diverse research and prototyping needs.

  • Support researchers and industry partners in process integration, providing training and technical guidance.
  • Maintain process documentation, SOPs, and safety protocols.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with cleanroom protocols, EHS regulations, and chemical / material handling standards.

  • Contribute to risk assessments and continuous safety improvements.
  • Collaboration & Training
  • Collaborate with other process engineers in lithography, etching, metrology, and packaging for integrated device development.

  • Train new users and provide technical support for equipment operation.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands‑on experience in thin film deposition (ALD, CVD, PVD, evaporation, sputtering) and annealing processes.
  • Strong background in tool maintenance and troubleshooting ; ability to diagnose hardware, vacuum, and process‑related issues.
  • Experience working in a semiconductor fab or research cleanroom environment is highly preferred.
  • Good understanding of vacuum technology, gas delivery systems, temperature control, and thin film characterization.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to interact with diverse user groups.
  • Highly motivated, detail‑oriented, and capable of working independently as well as in a team.
