Health and Safety Business Partner - Wellington

We are looking for a full-time Health and Safety Business Partner to join our team, supporting our regional operations and technical disciplines across the Tonkin + Taylor Group.
In this role, you'll be a trusted advisor and strategic partner, working closely with leaders and teams to embed a proactive and positive health, safety and wellbeing (HSW) culture.
You'll also collaborate with our national H&S team to drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with statutory, industry and client-specific requirements.
You'll be naturally curious, approachable, and bring true care into your work.
The ideal candidate will be a people-person with a knack for building relationships.

Responsibilities
Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders and teams on health, safety and wellbeing, ensuring HSW requirements are built into project planning and delivery
Develop and maintain HSW systems, procedures and risk assessments
Lead incident investigations, manage corrective actions and support the incident management process
Mentor and support Health & Safety Representatives, Location Representatives and Wellbeing Champions
Oversee contractor and supplier HSW pre-qualification and performance monitoring
Support injury management and return-to-work programmes in collaboration with our Occ Health and Wellbeing team
Conduct audits and inspections, identifying and supporting improvement opportunities
Monitor legislative changes and support WorkSafe liaison when required
What you\'ll bring
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health & Safety
Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role, ideally in construction, environmental or engineering sectors
Strong knowledge of NZ / Australian HSW legislation, Codes of Practice, and ISO45001
ICAM investigation and audit training and experience
Competent in risk assessment, including Bowtie methodology
Experience with Just Culture or Human and Organisational Performance (HOP)
Proven ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of an organisation
Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
Strong organisational and time management abilities
A mindset focused on education, empowerment and continuous improvement
Full NZ driver's licence
