The role | Te mahi

The Department has an exciting opportunity for a part-time, fixed-term position as a Professional Practice Fellow.

In this role you will contribute to and support the teaching of medical students undertaken by the psychologists in the Department ("the Behavioural Science Team") and the Psychiatrists in the Department (i.e., Advance Learning Medicine training).

The successful candidate for this role will :

Be responsible for teaching across a range of lectures and group tutorials in the undergraduate medical curriculum, with a focus on the teaching of mental disorders, behavioural medicine and developmental psychology.

Facilitate learning by conducting demonstrations, tutorials, or workshops in relation to clinical skills.

Assist with teaching administration, preparing course materials and maintain your own professional practice.

Be committed to upholding the University's core values related to support and success of Maori and Pacific students, aligned with the University's Maori Strategic Framework and Pacific Strategic Framework.

The successful applicant will :

Be qualified as a Clinical Psychologist.

Have had substantial experience of health professional work.

Preferably have experience in teaching at the tertiary level.

This is a part-time (0.3 FTE), fixed-term position from January 2026 to October 2026, based in Otepoti, Dunedin.

You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this position.

The successful candidate will be appointed to an appropriate step on the University of Otago Teaching and Professional Practice Fellow scale, based on qualifications, skills and experience.

As a part-time position, the salary range for this role will be the pro-rata equivalent of the annual full-time salary range.
