Job Title : Senior / Principal Enterprise Python Software Engineer

Location : Auckland

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior or Principal Python Software Engineer to architect, build, and maintain enterprise-grade Python applications. This role is ideal for someone passionate about designing robust, scalable systems and who thrives in a DevOps-driven environment. You will play a key role in both application development and the operational excellence required to deploy Python solutions at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Development
• Architect, develop, and maintain high-quality Python applications (web, API, and backend services) for enterprise environments.
• Ensure code quality, maintainability, and performance through best practices, code reviews, and automated testing.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other engineers to deliver business-critical features.
• DevOps & Deployment
• Lead the containerization of Python applications using Docker and orchestrate deployments with Kubernetes (K8s).
• Implement CI / CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Ensure applications are secure, reliable, and scalable in production environments.
• Tooling & Observability
• Select and integrate Python tooling and packages appropriate for enterprise use.
• Set up and maintain monitoring, logging, and observability solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry).
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, driving root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technology strategy.
• Document solutions and share knowledge across teams.
• (Bonus) AI / ML
• If experienced, contribute to the design and deployment of AI / ML solutions using Python frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
