  • Fixed Term or Secondment through to June
  • Salary range : $90,743 – $109,980 per annum

  • We're looking for an experienced and adaptable Advisor to join our team supporting the Regional Public Service Commissioner (RPSC) and Regional Leadership Group (RLG) in Te Tai Tokerau (Northland).

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a cross-agency initiative that connects government and community partners to deliver better social outcomes for whanau across the region.

You'll help align efforts across agencies, track regional priorities, and provide insights that support evidence-based decision-making.You'll work closely with the Regional Commissioner, MSD leadership team, and partner agencies to coordinate regional activity, monitor progress against shared outcomes, and ensure an integrated response to social and economic challenges facing Northland communities.

  • In this role, you'll :
  • Provide high-quality analysis and advice to the RPSC, Regional Commissioner, and RLG to support regional decision-making.
  • Contribute to the coordination and delivery of cross-agency regional priorities and initiatives.
  • Monitor progress and evaluate the impact of regional programmes and provide regular reporting.
  • Identify and assess risks and opportunities and provide timely advice on potential responses.
  • Support engagement with local government, iwi, and community stakeholders to promote collaboration and shared accountability.
  • Prepare project documentation, reports, and briefings to support strategic discussions and governance meetings.
  • Assist in aligning MSD's work with broader public service priorities in Te Tai Tokerau.

  • You'll bring :
  • Experience working in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment within government or the social sector.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills, with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with confidence working with senior leaders and community partners.
  • Sound judgement, political awareness, and the ability to anticipate emerging issues or risks.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset with a genuine interest in improving outcomes for communities in Te Tai Tokerau.The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is a people-focused organisation that helps New Zealanders to be safe, strong, and independent.
