Overview

Babcock is looking for an Emergency Response and Critical Risk Advisor to join the HSEQ team based in Devonport, Auckland on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract .

Step into a pivotal role where your leadership in emergency preparedness directly impacts the safety of people, vessels, and infrastructure. As the Emergency Response and Critical Risk Advisor, you’ll lead the charge in developing tailored emergency plans, running high-impact drills, and ensuring readiness across a complex marine environment. You’ll be the go-to expert for critical risk control, working alongside operational teams to embed safety into every high-risk activity.

You’ll influence strategic safety outcomes, provide technical guidance, and drive continuous improvement in emergency systems. Responsibilities

Lead emergency preparedness and response activities in a complex marine environment, including developing tailored emergency plans, conducting high-impact drills, and ensuring readiness across operations.
Serve as the go-to expert for critical risk control, embedding safety into high-risk activities and working with operational teams.
Lead and develop a volunteer Emergency Response Team, shaping culture, capability, and safety outcomes.
Provide technical guidance and drive continuous improvement in emergency systems and processes.

Qualifications

Key Required Skills : Emergency response planning and execution

Key Required Skills : Critical risk assessment and control implementation

Key Required Skills : Leadership of volunteer or cross-functional teams

Key Required Skills : Scenario-based training and drill facilitation

Key Required Skills : Technical documentation and compliance assurance

Key Required Skills : Incident investigation and continuous improvement

Key Required Skills : Strong stakeholder engagement and communication

Key Required Skills : Engineering or operational safety advisory experience

Key Required Qualifications : NZQA or higher emergency response training / assessor certification

Key Required Qualifications : Confined Space, Work at Heights, and Advanced First Aid qualified

Key Required Qualifications : Fire and Rescue or Mines Rescue formal qualifications (preferred)

Key Required Qualifications : H&S qualification (Cert IV in Health & Safety preferred)
