Overview

Crown Law's purpose is to serve New Zealand by supporting the Government to operate lawfully.

Crown Law's functions are :

Supporting the Law Officers of the Crown

Leading the government legal profession

Overseeing public prosecutions

Providing legal services to Government

Crown Law provides legal advice and representation services to the Government in matters affecting the executive government.

The services Crown Law provides include matters covering judicial review of government actions, constitutional questions including Te Tiriti o Waitangi / Treaty of Waitangi issues, the enforcement of criminal law, and the protection of revenue.

Crown Law also administers the prosecution process in the criminal justice system, in particular, Crown prosecutions.

Crown Law's Research and Library Services Team provides an authoritative, reliable, and timely research and library service s to legal and support staff.

The library is responsible for managing the physical and online collections and providing the expertise of the best Law Librarians.

We are seeking a proactive

Research Librarian

to join our dynamic team.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara | Wellington.

The key responsibilities of the

Research Librarian

role are :

  • Providing legal research;
  • Compiling legislative histories, literature reviews and media searches;
  • Creating and maintaining online current awareness services;

Creating and updating content on the library intranet.

To really shine in this role, you will have the following :

A degree and a tertiary library qualification (or working towards one).

Exceptional candidates with an equivalent level of work experience and knowledge or a law qualification will also be considered.

Experience providing research in a legal or client-centred environment.

Experience with GeniePlus or a similar Library system would be advantageous

Initiative and excellent problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively to deliver the team's objectives.

Demonstrable knowledge of New Zealand legal resources and an understanding of government and parliamentary processes.

The ability to manage a busy workload with competing demands; maintain productivity and meet deadlines.

You will have an awareness of the application of technology in the delivery of Library and Research services.

This role is Wellington based and located next to Wellington bus and train station.

Remuneration and Benefits

A starting salary range of between $83,822 -$100,370 with further room to progress

The appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.

  • An annual wellness payment;
  • 4 weeks annual leave plus 3 additional leave days (Crown Law days);
