Overview

The NZ Structural Engineering Lead is responsible for leading the structural engineering teams across the Auckland and Wellington offices while delivering high-quality engineering solutions and projects. This role includes managing technical resources, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the structural engineering team, providing direction and mentorship to staff.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of engineering solutions for various projects.
  • Strong emphasis on business development and active in driving new revenue opportunities for the structural team
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, and other engineering disciplines
  • Ensure all projects adhere to local, state, and national regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure timely delivery of high-quality services.
  • Conduct technical reviews and provide guidance on complex structural engineering issues.
  • Foster a culture of safety and innovation within the team, encouraging continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations for stakeholders.

Who We’re Looking For

  • A senior practitioner with technical expertise recognised in the local market
  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural
  • Must be Chartered Professional Engineer and able to provide Producer Statements
  • Proven experience in structural engineering design and project management, preferably in a consultancy environment
  • Strong knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and drive change
  • Ability to work alongside existing leaders and in multidisciplinary teams
  • Proven track record in delivering projects from concept to completion
  • Proactive and forward-thinking approach to structural engineering challenges
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for innovation
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively
