About the Role

This hands-on contract role will contribute to a pioneering computer vision project.

You\'ll help transform a successful proof-of-concept into a scalable, production-ready ML solution, delivering real-world impact in a uniquely Kiwi context.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and optimise computer vision models for defect detection

Process video data, prepare datasets, and manage image anonymisation for model training.

Build and maintain ML pipelines integrated with AWS infrastructure.

Write and refine Python scripts to support data and model workflows.

Collaborate with product, innovation, and IT teams to align solutions with business goals.

Key Skills and Experience

5–8 years' experience in Data Science or ML Engineering, ideally within computer vision.

Proficient in Python and video / data pipeline development.

Hands-on experience with YOLO and other vision-based frameworks (PyTorch / TensorFlow).

Familiarity with AWS or Azure for managing cloud-based ML workflows.

Strong collaboration and communication skills, with an eagerness to experiment and learn.

Proven ability to work on applied ML projects in dynamic environments.

Comfortable translating business needs into technical execution.
