Head teacher

Arrowtown Preschools are not-for-profit, community-based centres nurturing tamariki from 1–5 years.

Our Durham St Preschool caters specifically for our older tamariki (3–5 years).

We offer a play-based, nature-rich programme inspired by Te Whāriki, Te Ao Māori, and Reggio Emilia approaches, fostering confident, creative, and connected learners.

Our fun and passionate team are guided by relationships, creativity, and identity – our local curriculum values that celebrate who we are and where we are.

We are seeking a full-time head teacher from January 2026 who will provide professional and relational leadership to our teaching team. You will ensure our philosophy and local curriculum are lived every day, supporting kaiako to create nurturing, culturally responsive, and high-quality learning environments.

We’re looking for someone who :

• Is an inspiring and supportive leader who values collaboration
• Builds strong relationships with tamariki, whānau, and colleagues
• Models reflective and culturally responsive practice
• Ideally has a sound understanding of Te Whāriki, Te Ao Māori, Reggio Emilia, and nature-based approaches
• Holds an ECE or Primary teaching qualification and current NZTC registration.
