Te Whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

This is a critical role where you will work alongside regional portfolio managers and governance teams, ensuring their mahi is well supported and aligned to frameworks and strategies.

As a key member of our virtual Wellington & Top of the South regional portfolio management team, you'll help enable delivery excellence across our transport infrastructure portfolio controls.

You'll be an essential connector within the portfolio space, driving quality data across the lifecycle of activities and ensuring governance teams can rely on timely, accurate information.

Your mahi will include conducting portfolio-level data quality checks, ensuring information reflects best practice guidelines, and monitoring the health and integrity of regional portfolio data to enable accuracy and completeness.

You'll also apply a risk-based approach to manage key controls and champion consistent practices that strengthen portfolio governance.

You'll be part of the Portfolio and Programme Office (PPO), working nationally with a team that is committed to strengthening portfolio governance and enabling successful delivery across Transport Services.

Working collaboratively in a matrixed environment, you'll help shape priorities, improve delivery outcomes, and contribute to the success of our national transport infrastructure portfolio.

Ko koe tenei | About You

Proven experience in portfolio or programme controls, including cost management, risk management, reporting, and scheduling.

Experience in PPO, PMO, or project delivery environment across a diverse portfolio, ideally within civil engineering and infrastructure projects, is highly valued.

Strong experience in financial management (budgeting, reporting, and analysis) and using relevant portfolio or programme management scheduling, reporting, and financial systems.

Outstanding organisational and communication skills, with the ability to influence and embed best practices across diverse teams.

Relevant tertiary qualification and / or certifications such such as PRINCE2, PMP, MSP, MoP, P3O, or data analytics credentials, and / or history of suitable experience in a similar role.

Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Te Ao Maori, tikanga, and Te Reo Maori, and an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in the public sector.

The salary range for this role is $109,000 to $122,000, depending on the skills and experience you bring to the position.
